Overview

This course builds the foundations of robotics and physical computing. Students learn safe EASY Plug connections, basic Mixly navigation, digital output, digital and analog input, timing, loops, variables, conditions, and simple debugging.

What You’ll Learn?

Understand the fundamentals of robotics and how robotic systems work
Explore the main components of an Arduino-based robotic system
Learn how a microcontroller receives information from sensors and controls outputs
Build and program simple robotic systems using an Arduino-compatible board
Explore digital inputs and outputs through LEDs, buttons, buzzers, and other components
Use sensors to detect information from the environment
Understand how robots make decisions based on sensor input
Learn basic block-based programming concepts including sequences, conditions, and loops
Control motors and other actuators to create movement
Connect sensors, actuators, and the control board to build functional robotic systems
Test, troubleshoot, and improve robotic designs
Apply robotics concepts to practical challenges through hands-on projects
Develop engineering thinking, creativity, teamwork, and problem-solving skills

Requirements

Basic computer skills are recommended
No previous Arduino experience is required
Previous introductory robotics experience is helpful but not required
Access to an Arduino-compatible robotics kit and computer
Students should follow the robotics engineering process:
Understand → Connect → Program → Test → Debug → Improve → Share
Students should learn to identify inputs, processing, and outputs in each robotic system
Students should test components individually before combining them into complete projects
Students should safely handle electronic components, wires, motors, and the robotics board
Students should document their designs, programming logic, testing results, and improvements
